Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions patients most often ask — before they come, and during therapy.

First contact & registration

How do I register?

Via the contact form, by email, or by phone during phone hours (Mon–Fri 9–11 am and 5–6 pm). Outside these times you reach an answering machine — I call back within two working days.

How long until the first appointment?

Currently between one and three weeks, depending on the language and time of day you prefer. Crisis conversations have priority — please say so right away if it is urgent.

Do I need a referral?

No. Your insurance card is enough for psychotherapy. A referral can be useful if your GP is already involved — it is not mandatory.

Fees & insurance

Will my statutory insurance cover therapy?

Yes, CBT is a standard service of statutory health insurance. Requirement is an approved diagnosis under ICD-10. We clarify this during probatory sessions.

What is the self-pay rate?

€110 per 50-minute session. The first consultation (15 minutes by phone) is free for self-payers too.

What about Beihilfe?

We bill according to GOP. The Beihilfe office reimburses a share — its amount depends on your federal state and employer. Your top-up insurance usually covers what remains.

Therapy & process

How many sessions will I need?

Short-term therapy comprises 24 sessions, long-term therapy up to 60 (with extension option). For burnout or anxiety, short-term is often enough; for complex trauma, more time is appropriate.

What happens in probatory sessions?

Across two to four trial sessions we clarify diagnosis and goals. You check whether the chemistry fits. Only then do we jointly apply for therapy with your insurer.

How often will we meet?

Usually once a week, 50 minutes each. In acute phases we can step up to twice weekly — we agree this individually.

Confidentiality

Who learns about my therapy?

Nobody but me and you. § 203 of the German Criminal Code regulates therapeutic confidentiality very tightly. Even to your insurer we only transmit diagnosis codes — never content.

Will it be in my records?

With statutory insurance, therapy is billed under medical confidentiality. For applications, civil-service appointments or disability insurance, please discuss this with me in advance — there are situations where we can leave it out of statements.

Language & culture

Which language is the therapy in?

In German, English or Turkish — also switching within a session, if a topic only lives in one specific language. In Arabic I work conversationally; for deeper topics with qualified interpreting.

Will you understand my cultural references?

I have my own migration biography and have worked in cross-cultural contexts for years. You don't have to explain what 'family honour' means or why certain topics are not spoken about in your family.

Let's talk.

The first consultation is 15 minutes long, by phone, free of charge. You don't need to prepare anything.
